A PETITION TO RECALL NIMRATA "NIKKI" RANDHAWA HALEY,
THE 116th GOVERNOR OF SOUTH CAROLINA

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley campaigned and was elected by the voters of South Carolina on a platform of transparency in government but since taking office has run one of the most opaque administrations in South Carolina history; holding budget meetings in private, failing to disclose required data on her campaign finance documents, convening a secret meeting of the S.C. Budget and Control Board and destroying public records, among other acts of secrecy;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley campaigned and was elected on a platform of fiscal responsibility but since taking office has doled out huge pay raises to her staff and presided over the largest budget in the history of the State of South Carolina, among other acts of fiscal recklessness;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley's appointees to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) have overturned the agency's policy of protecting South Carolina's economic and environmental interests along the Savannah River and permitted the State of Georgia to move forward with port expansion plans that will materially diminish our state's competitiveness;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley has been caught misleading the public regarding the number of jobs her administration has created, the circumstances regarding her removal of Darla Moore from the University of South Carolina board of trustees and her connections to various political donors who have provided her with flights on their private jets, among other statements;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley is currently facing a lawsuit over allegations that she illegally lobbied on behalf of at least one of her former employers, failed to disclose the work she did for another former employer and failed to recuse herself from a vote that benefited a former employer;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley has yet to release her taxpayer-funded legislative hard drives in response to media inquiries regarding multiple, as-yet-unresolved allegations of marital infidelity;

WHEREAS, There is legislation pending before the S.C. General Assembly that would provide for the recall of public officials including the Governor of South Carolina;

WHEREAS, Nikki Haley has publicly stated her support for this legislation; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, do call for the passage of legislation that would permit the recall of public officials in South Carolina, and that Gov. Nimrata "Nikki" Randhawa Haley should be recalled as governor of South Carolina in accordance with the provisions of that legislation.
